Musheerabad: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has advised women to allocate time for physical exercise to preserve their health. She was speaking at the valedictory function of skill development programme for women organised by Jagruthi Foundation here on Thursday.

The Governor distributed the certificates of appreciation to women trainees who received skill development training from KVIC, Saksham, NYK, APSA and ALEAP. BJP state president Dr K Lakshman also attended the programme.

Tamilisai started her speech in Telugu. She wished women of all success, and hoped to speak fluent Telugu in the next two months. "I am a successful doctor, and I made an entry into politics to become successful politician. As a successful doctor, I view the new state of Telangana as a baby," she said.

Describing herself as a common woman, she said she is fond of sarees and gold like any other woman. She said she likes to give priority to woman issues as the governor. She said she made time for the women programme, even though there were two other programmes at Raj Bhavan.

Women have reached a stage where they like to live independently and to become self-reliant, she said, and advised women to allocate some time to exercise and to preserve health. "We women spend hours to select sarees, but it is time we spare some time for exercises as well," she said. The Governor congratulated Jagruthi Foundation and other NGOs that organized the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP state president Dr K Lakshman explained various women welfare schemes initiated by the BJP government led by Prime Minister Modi. He advised women to be self-reliant and to become entrepreneurs to provide more jobs to other women.
