GHMC polling notification is issued by State Election Commissioner a few hours ago. According to this notification, polling will be held on December 1 and results will be declared on December 4. GHMC commissioner said that, the election holds utmost importance. This time, the general category woman candidate will be given the opportunity to become the mayor. All the women are elated with this decision. He also said that, we are accepting nominations for the GHMC elections from tomorrow.
Candidates are required to submit their nominations directly to Returning Officer. With the release of the schedule and notification, the election code came into force. Strict action will be taken if the code is violated. Authorities, meanwhile, identified 1439 problematic polling stations. There are 1004 hypersensitive centres and 257 critical centres. He said there were a total of 2,700 troubled polling stations inclusive. However, the last date for nominations is 20th November and the withdrawal deadline is 22nd November. Officials have already released the final voter list for 150 wards.
The views of the political parties indicated that the conduct of the elections would be by ballot as per the Supreme Court guidelines. He said that white ballot papers will be used in this election. This time, however, it was decided to elect a woman to the position of mayor. With the release of the GHMC schedule, all the major political parties are now focusing on the candidates.
