Tribals plan huge rally in New Delhi on Dec 9
Adilabad MP Soyam Babu Rao said that tribals would hold a massive meeting in New Delhi on December 9 to bring to the notice of central government, injustice being done to tribal communities across the nation. He was speaking at the preparatory meeting for December 9 meeting, at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram on Monday.
Baghlingampally: Adilabad MP Soyam Babu Rao said that tribals would hold a massive meeting in New Delhi on December 9 to bring to the notice of central government, injustice being done to tribal communities across the nation. He was speaking at the preparatory meeting for December 9 meeting, at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram on Monday.
The MP said the meeting was organised to protect the rights of forest dwellers and tribal communities and preserve the identity of tribal communities. Condemning vote bank politics of Congress party, the MP alleged that Congress has included Lambada community, which has been usurping reservation rights of various communities, in the ST category as part of their vote bank policies since 1976.
He demanded that the government recognise tribals and forest-dwellers who live away from inhabitations as STs. For the education of tribals, he sought appointment of people from tribal communities, rather than from Lambada community, as education volunteers in local schools.
The MP criticised the CM KCR for failing to keep the promise he made during election campaign that he would address podu lands issue as soon as he comes to power. Instead of addressing the issue, attempts were made to evict tribals from forests and deprive them of their land. He urged all the tribal youth organizations to participate in the meeting to be held in New Delhi and make it a grand success.
Among those who were present on the occasion include Adivasi employees' welfare association state president GondhiVenkataramana, state president of Adhar Society KaltiVeeramallu, coordinator Sunchu Ramakrishna, general secretary SidamJangu, treasurer MetlaPapaiah, M Bhujanga Rao, Ramabrahmam, Sailu, P Venkata Lakshmi, E Sulochana, Papa Rao and others.
