There are approximately 6 to 10 million people living with epilepsy in India. The incidence rate varies from 0.2-0.6 per 1,000 population and more than half of the cases start in childhood.

Globally, an estimated five million people are diagnosed with epilepsy each year. This was stated by Dr.JMK Murthy HOD of Neurologist CARE Hospitals at Paediatric Epilepsy Workshop held between November 16 to 18.
The Workshop on Paediatric Epilepsy was attended by faculty from Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia and Prominent paediatric Neurologist and Epileptologists from eminent institute from all over India. The Workshop was aimed to train Paediatricians in Diagnosing Epilepsy and Managing epilepsy in paediatric age group from new-born to adolescents.
