Tirupati: Pilgrims from outside including from other states staged a dharna here on Sunday demanding the TTD to provide darshan a day after the availing of token issued in the SSD counters here and not three or four days later.

The pilgrims, who availed the offline Sarva darshan time slot tokens here on Friday and Saturday were allotted darshan on December 23 and 24 enraging them to resort to dharna here before the railway station. The pilgrim said that they were forced to stay here with their family for four or five days facing inclement cold weather, much risk due to Covid and also incurring expenses for food and shelter as they were allotted darshan on December 23.

They wanted the TTD to provide darshan for the tokens issued to them on Monday itself to avoid inconvenience and expenses to them. Common pilgrims from other states arriving here to avail the free darshan token were most of the time forced to wait two to five days for darshan during weekends causing much inconvenience to them. It may be noted here that TTD is providing 7,000 offline Sarva darshan tokens against online 20,000 tokens of Rs 300 special entry tickets daily.
