The 42nd conference of Association of Surgeons of India State Chapter ‘AP ASICON’ would be held at KL University Campus here from August 23 to 25.

Vijayawada: The 42nd conference of Association of Surgeons of India State Chapter 'AP ASICON' would be held at KL University Campus here from August 23 to 25. The 'AP ASICON' is being organised for the first time in the state after the bifurcation in 2014, said the organising committee chairman Dr T J Prasanna Kumar here on Thursday.

Addressing the media, he said that about 1,000 surgeons are expected to attend the conference. Renowned speakers from all over India would give series of talks on recent advances, changes in surgeries and interventional procedures. They would also contribute updates on laparoscopic surgeries, training skills to acquire in various workshops.

Association of Surgeons of India national headquarters secretary Dr PV Ramana Murthy said speakers would focus on laparoscopic surgeries, demonstrate through videos, train using audiovisual aids, update on surgical skills and measures to reduce complications of laparoscopic surgery. Postgraduates from all over the state of Andhra Pradesh will present more than 500 posters and papers in the conference.

Professors and renowned surgeons from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and other cities would deliver talks on how to do surgeries safely at an affordable cost, he added. Organising Secretary Dr Siva Sankar, Dr K Pattabhi Ramaiah and Dr B Anil Kumar were present on the occasion.
