Vijayawada: Chief Electoral Officer Gopalakrishna Dwivedi said that the Model Election Code of Conduct has come into force in Andhra Pradesh from Sunday onwards and directed the leaders of political parties and officials to follow the election code as per the guidelines of Election Commission.

Speaking to mediapersons at the Secretariat at Velagapudi on Sunday, he said that the Election Commission made all arrangements for the smooth conduct of elections.

He said that the State has total 3.82 crore voters. The voters whose names are deleted from the list could get their names included in the list by submitting form-6 application by March 15.

He requested all the people to check their names in voters list immediately and get the mistakes rectified. Still the people have opportunity to get their names enrolled in the list, he said and added that the Election Commission would give only five days time in this regard.

He said that they had received total 9.27 lakh form-7 applications. They still need to pursue 1.5 lakh form-7 application forms whether they are correct or not, he said. The Election Commission would take action against those who wrongly submit form-7 applications, he said.

The EC would examine all the online money transactions, he said and added that they would take stringent action against unlawful activities. As many as 45,921 polling stations would be established and 200 polling stations have been proposed additionally. Permission from Election Commission of India is awaited. Special security arrangements have been provided and required basic amenities would be provided at polling stations, the CEO said.
