Visakhapatnam: In view of the use of ring seine nets and the subsequent row it triggered among the fishermen communities, Section-145 CrPC is initiated and fishing has been banned until further orders.

At a meeting organised by the city police with the fishermen community at the police conference hall here on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner of Police Aishwarya Rastogi said both gill net operators and ring seine net operators were made aware of the 145 CrPC orders and instructed the fishermen to follow them diligently until further notice.

The issue of the ring seine fishing net was brought to the notice of the Commissioner, Fisheries, and an expert committee was formed to submit a report in this regard. The DCP said, based on the expert committee's report, the next course of action will be decided. Meanwhile, fishermen were advised to follow the order and in case of any violation, the police warned that stringent action will be taken against the violators. In case of any grievances, the DCP said, the fishermen were asked to bring them to the notice of the local SHO with immediate effect.
