ABVP State Secretary Ambala Kiran states that despite none of the 13 engineering colleges owned by Minister Malla Reddy having proper infrastructure, the Minister was able to run these institutions

Warangal: Cancel the recognition of Malla Reddy University and Malla Reddy College of Engineering (MRCE), the ABVP demanded, staging a dharna at the KU crossroads, here, on Wednesday.

t may be mentioned here that the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) blacklisted MRCE, owned by Telangana Minister for Labour Ch Malla Reddy, for five years after it found digitally forged certificates submitted for accreditation by the management in its Self Study Report (SSR).

Speaking at the protest, ABVP State Secretary Ambala Kiran said that what kind of ethics the institution professes if the management itself submits fake documents to get NAAC accreditation. None of the 13 engineering colleges owned by Minister Malla Reddy has proper infrastructure. Despite this, the Minister was able to run these institutions, Kiran said.

He found fault with the Telangana State Board of Higher Education (TSCHE) and the JNTU-H authorities for not initiating action against the management. The government is playing with the lives of students, he alleged, demanding the cancellation of recognition of the colleges owned by the Minister. Further, the ABVP leader demanded the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to sack Malla Reddy from his cabinet immediately. "The government should focus on strengthening the State universities instead of encouraging the private varsities," Kiran said. He also urged the government to appoint vice-chancellors to all the varsities besides filling the vacant teaching and non-teaching posts.

The ABVP also demanded the State government to order a probe into the functioning of colleges owned by the Minister.

Joint State Secretary Punnem Venu, KU President Sandeep, State Law Cell co-convener Mallikarjun, district convener Ganesh, city Secretary Bharat and Rajesh were among others present.
