NEW DELHI: A notice had been issued against the Congress President Rahul Gandhi by the Election Commission as he had violated the model code of conduct, and is seeking a reply within 48 hours (till May 3)

On 23rd of April the Congress President Rahul Gandhi while addressing an election rally in Madhya Pradesh Shahdol, said, "Narendra Modi has made a new law in which there is a line that says tribals can be shot at."

This speech had caused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to complain to the Election Commission over Rahul Gandhi.

The notice against the Congress president by the Election Commission came out after a week since the complaint was filed by BJP to EC. The notice was sent to Congress President Rahul Gandhi by a special messenger.
