The COVID-19 pandemic in the country continues to sweep through many states, with Maharashtra being the worst-affected.

The COVID-19 pandemic in the country continues to sweep through many states, with Maharashtra being the worst-affected. The total number of cases in the country has now climbed to 2,07,615 as per the latest data put out by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Across the country, 1,00,303 people have been cured or discharged, while there are 1,01,497 active cases, while there have been 5,815 deaths from the deadly pandemic so far.

Here is a break-up of the ten states with the highest numbers of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country.

The worst hit state continues to be Maharashtra which is also now facing the impact of heavy rain caused by Cyclone Nisarga. Maharashtra has been recording the highest number of cases for some time now. The state's COVID-19 tally continues to go up reaching 72,300 with 2,465 deaths.

Tamil Nadu has so far recorded 24,586 confirmed coronavirus cases with a low death rate of 197 fatalities.

Delhi has also been recording huge spikes of confirmed coronavirus cases with the total count in the national capital now standing at 22,132 . Delhi has recorded 556 deaths so far.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Gujarat now stands at 17,617 with the death count climbing to 1,092 .

Rajasthan's tally of confirmed coronavirus cases has reached 9,373 with 203 deaths.

Madhya Pradesh has reported 8,420 confirmed COVID-19 cases with a mortality rate of 364 deaths.

Uttar Pradesh has recorded 8,361 confirmed coronavirus cases with 222 deaths. West Bengal has so far reported 6,168 335 cases of coronavirus with deaths. Karnataka has recorded 3796 cases of COVID-19 with 52 deaths. Telangana has reported 2,891 cases with 92 deaths.
