New Delhi: The Lieutenant-Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal has called for a meeting with all political parties on Tuesday at 3 pm. The LG will discuss the prevailing coronavirus situation in Delhi in his meeting with leaders of all parties. The LG's comes in the backdrop of talk of possible community spread in Delhi. However, officials of the Centre have denied that there is community transmission in the national capital.

At the meeting Anil Baijal is likely to review steps being taken to curb the transmission of COVID-19 in Delhi.

Deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia also said that there is no indication of community spread, as stated by the Centre. He said that the order brought out by the Delhi government restricting treatment for COVID-19 patients in Delhi hospitals to residents of Dehi kept in view the worsening situation in the national capital.

Sisodia said that as per predictions Delhi would need 80,000 beds by the end of July which would overwhelm its healthcare infrastructure. Hence, the government's order restricting treatment of COVID-19 patients to residents of Delhi. However, this was rescinded by the Lieutenant Governor, Sisodia added.

The matter would be taken up in the meeting with the LG this afternoon, Sisodia said. Legal experts point out that an order imposing such restrictions on treatment may not stand legal scrutiny. The Kejriwal government has come in for criticism for the contentious order which was overturned subsequently by the Lieutenant-Governor.
