New Delhi:With farmers continuing their protest on the Delhi borders for nearly a month now, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Wednesday again held out the assurance that the Modi government was "fully committed" to their welfare.

Paying his tribute to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary, which is observed as 'Kisan Divas' across the country, Tomar tweeted: "Wishing all the countrymen on the 'Farmers' Day'. The Modi government is fully committed to the welfare of farmers."

"Salutations to the messiah of farmers and former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary."

Tomar's tweet indicated the government's intention to continue talks with farmers to end the deadlock on their demands. While farmers are adamant on their demand for the repeal of three contentious central farm laws, the government is ready to bring about suitable amendments to the same.

Since November 26, thousands of farmers are protesting against the central government on Delhi's interstate borders at Singhu, Tikri, Ghazipur, and Chilla on the Delhi-Ambala, Delhi-Hisar, Delhi-Ghaziabad, and Delhi-Noida routes respectively.
