The Supreme Court ordered shifting of ailing CPM leader Mohd Yusuf Tarigami to AIIMS in Delhi from Srinagar where he is under house arrest.

The court also issued a notice to the Centre demanding a response within a week to Sitaram Yechury's allegation that his colleague MY Tarigami was illegally detained in Srinagar without official orders.

The notice was served after Sitaram Yechury filed an affidavit.

The Supreme Court had earlier allowed Yechury to visit Jammu and Kashmir to meet his ailing party colleague Tarigami while brushing aside the Centre's claim that it might "endanger the situation" in the state.
