Amaravati: The demand for banning Tik Tok in India spread across the country. A movement against the Tik Tok has been continuing on social media from the last four days. People on Twitter demanding to ban it. Ratings of the mobile application fall drastically from 4.5 star to just around 1.5 star on the Google Play Store in the last four days. People have been reporting Google to ban it from India. They are alleging that Tik Tok has been promoting adult and crime-related content.

The entire episode started when a short video of a Tik Tok star, namely Faisal Siddiqui went viral, in which he allegedly encouraged acid attack on women. Taking it as a serious violation of women's rights, the National Women's Commission Chairperson Rekha Sharma ordered Tik Tok India to suspend the account of the accused and also ordered a police inquiry into that, on May 18. Later she confirmed that the account of accused was suspended after the intervention of Women's Commission.

From then onwards, the people on Twitter started tweeting against the mobile application and hitting negative comments on Google Play Store. They even created a hashtag #TikTokBanIndia.

As the company encountered both legal problems and public protests against its guidelines, it was forced to once again revisit its content promotion procedure.
