Ahmedabad: US President Donald Trump will be welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Ahmedabad airport. President Trump will be accompanied by PM Modi on a 22 km roadshow from the Ahmedabad airport to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Motera cricket stadium. President Trump will also visit Sabarmati Ashram as part of the roadshow.

About 50,000 people will greet the US President along the roadshow route. Children performing garba, showcasing of the culture of various states, are among some of the features along the roadshow.

The Motera stadium has been fully decked up for the VVIPs. Visitors to the Namaste-Trump event will have to cross three heavy layers of security. A massive Namaste-Trump hoarding welcomes the visitors at the Motera stadium.

Tour operators are reportedly putting together tour packages and hotels in Ahmedabad are said to be full already.

A massive beautification drive has been carried out in Ahmedabad. There has also been extensive fumigation along with constant cleaning of roads. A wall along the roadshow route was built to hide slums, critics allege, while the administration claims that the intention is to provide security to slum-dwellers.

Agra Visit

President Trump and Melania Trump are scheduled to make a sunset visit to Agra's celebrated monument the Taj Mahal. They will be accompanied by UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath. The UP chief minister's presence in US President's entourage, has come in for criticism.

Celebrity chef, Sanjeev Kapoor told a TV channel that President Trump is fond of typical American food which is rich and heavy. However, President Trump will sample Gujarati regional and seasonal food which would showcase the state's culinary culture keeping the taste profile of the VVIP visitor in mind.
