Discrimination against girl child should be curbed to maintain sex ratio

NCC cadets of Maris Stella College and other colleges held a rally on Saturday to mark National Girl Child Day. Speaking after flagging off the rally, college principal Sr C Rekha Mudarta expressed her concern over the declining sex ratio in the country. “Female foeticide and discrimination against girl child should be effectively curbed to maintain the sex ratio, which is vital for the country's growth,” she said.

NCC commanding officer Salil Bakshi said that everyone in the society should strive to protect the girl child and provide them good education for their empowerment. Holding placards saying ‘Save Girl Child’ and ‘Protect Girls’, NCC cadets rallied on the streets. NCC officers N Sailaja, Matilda Mayor and other staff also participated in it.
