Pochampally expo underway
The handloom mela of Pochampally Ikat Art was inaugurated at Sri Vidya Sadan function hall by Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadde Anuradha here on Friday. An elaborate range of textile and fabric, weaved in ikat art, was put for sale.
The handloom mela of Pochampally Ikat Art was inaugurated at Sri Vidya Sadan function hall by Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadde Anuradha here on Friday. An elaborate range of textile and fabric, weaved in ikat art, was put for sale.
The exhibition displays hand-woven pochampally style utilities and clothing by experienced artisans direct from the workshop. It has products like dress materials, kurthis, silk and cotton saris in exquisite designs, duppatas, table mats, covers, bed linen, cotton shirts and hand bags among others. The range of products starts from Rs 150 and upto Rs 50,000 and more.
Speaking about the exhibition, Gadde Anuradha said that the concept of bringing weavers directly to the buyers will facilitate good business for both parties. They get to exchange ideas and designs which will nurture skills of the weavers thus expanding their horizons. The expo will be open till July 13, said the organiser and Pochampally Handloom Park regional marketing chairman Sahesh.
