K Praveen Babu, a student of PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science, has been selected to represent India at the Lifesaving World Championship to be held at Eindhoven and Noordwijk in Netherlands from September 1 to 18. As the national swimmer needs a total sum of Rs 2.5 lakh to participate in the world championship, Rashtriya Life Saving Society of Pune has come forward to provide him a financial assistance of Rs 1.25 lakh.

Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education has extended an aid of Rs 75,000 to Praveen on knowing about his financial requirement through the college principal M Ramesh and director of physical education N Srinivasa Rao. Siddhartha Academy secretary P Lakshmana Rao handed over a cheque for Rs 75,000 to Praveen on Thursday. He exhorted Praveen to excel at the Lifesaving World Championship and bring laurels to the country.
