Ban non-academic activities on music college campus: BJYM

The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a protest in the city on Friday denouncing the conduct of non-academic activities on the campus of Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College. Speaking on the occasion, BJYM city president Ch Ravindra Reddy said the music college campus became a venue for political and religious events of late.

As a result, the sanctity of the music college was getting spoiled. The State Government should ban the conduct of non-academic activities on the music college campus to ensure that the students were not put to any inconvenience. It should also upgrade the music college as a university to promote fine arts in the State post bifurcation.

Steps should also be taken to increase the student strength of the institution by offering more courses in fine arts, he said. City BJP president D Umamaheswara Raju, State BJYM vice-president Ch Rajinikanth, city general secretary M Raghuram and others took part in the protest.
