Krishna University Inter Collegiate (KRUIC) Men Kabaddi tournament began at Vikas College of Physical Education (BPED), Nunna near Vijayawada on Tuesday. South Central Railway Vijayawada Division Sports Welfare Inspector and International Kabaddi player N Arjuna Rao inaugurated the two day tournament.
Speaking on the occasion Railway Sports Welfare Inspector Arjuna Rao said that state and central governments should encourage sports persons. The entire department should recruit outstanding players and provide job opportunity, he said. Railway department has given jobs under sports quota to one thousand sports persons, he added.
He further said that Ports, Postal, Income Tax, Police and other departments would come forward to provide jobs for the sportsmen. Educational institutions would encourage sports and games on par with education, it would be helpful to the sportsmen in the future, he said.
State and Union governments have to sanction stipends to those who perform in State and National level sports and games, he requested. Sports persons have more opportunities and special reservations in education as well as jobs, he explained.
Vikas Educational Institutions Chairman Naredla Narsi Reddy said that his institutions will support sports and games on par with education. He assured that he can conduct two inter university competitions every year.
Krishna University Sports Board secretary Dr N Srinivasa Rao, Acharya Nagarjuna University Yoga center Coordinator D Suryanarayana, Guntur Athletic coach R Sivaji, Krishna University Affiliated College Physical Education Lecturers Association president Dr N David, Vikas institutions secretary and correspondent N Satyanarayana Reddy, BPED college principal Dr S Raju and other participated in the programme.
