Ongole: The second general body meeting of Andhra Pradesh Circle Kabaddi Association elected Illuri Venkateswara Reddy as the president of the state association and southern India president, at the meeting held in Ongole on Sunday.

After his election, IV Reddy said, “The Circle Kabaddi is an interesting game and I would like to popularise the game in all the districts of Andhra Pradesh, and also the eight states in southern India. We are going to introduce the game in all schools with the cooperation of the PETs and physical directors.

I thank the members of the association for showing confidence in me and I think the successful conducting of 100 plus cricket tournaments in the last five years at Giddalur helped them choose me. In the coming few months, we are going to conduct district and state level circle Kabaddi tournaments in the state.”

AP Reddy, secretary of the state association said that the Circle Kabaddi is a little bit different to the conventional rectangle court Kabaddi. He said, “The court in the circle Kabaddi is a 22 meters diameter circle. Two teams with eight players each play the game. Four of the team are called riders and the remaining four are defenders. The riders do not touch the riders from other team. The defender who is touched by the rider should catch the rider on his own without taking any help from the remaining defenders.”
