Rajamahendravaram: All India Students Federation (AISF) district general secretary CH Srinivas demanded that the Union government accord special category status to the state and sanction Petroleum University to the East Godavari district.

A rally was organised by AISF members in the city on Thursday. Later, addressing the gathering at Amballa Surya Rao Bhavan here, he said that the state government had failed to mount pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring special status to the state, further alleging that the people are cheated.

“Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is keeping mum on this issue and AISF would launch an agitation for special status with like-minded people and organisations, he added.
CPI leader Nalla Rama Rao said the BJP government has not fulfilled promises given in the AP State Bifurcation Act, and thus gulled people.

“Many industrialists are not coming forward to invest in the state with a fear that they would not get any subsidies,” he added.AISF leaders T Prasad, LK Rao, G John Prakash and others were present.
