Kakinada: The AP Building and Other Construction Workers Federation of the East Godavari Unit on Thursday demanded that the government immediately settle the claims pending in the welfare board.

The East Godavari Committee leaders of building and other construction workers submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Commissioner of Labour, Satyanarayana here on Thursday.

Speaking on this occasion, building and other constructions district committee secretary Chekkala Rajkumar urged the government to implement the partial disability scheme to all the workers in the district.

Stating that about 1,800 applications were pending for the past six months, he said that the officials should immediately dispose the pending applications. “Some of these pending applications are related to the accidental deaths of building workers.

The concerned officials have not cleared these applications since the past two years,” he alleged.

He further expressed his anger over the e-office system, saying that the settlements of the claims were being delayed. An immediate settlement of the pending claims and issue of identity cards to all the building workers was the need of hour.

He also urged the officials to release orders on the marriage gift scheme, which was raised from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000.Pithapuram, Peddapuram, Kajuluru, Draksharama, Jaggampeta and Yeleswaram committee leaders attended the meeting.
