Darsi: Minister for Forests, Environment, Science and Technology Siddha Raghava Rao, asked women not to lose their self-respect by open defecation and advised them to compulsorily use individual toilets constructed in their houses. The minister participated in the Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru programme in Pasupugallu village in Mundlamuru mandal and Mannepalli village in Tallur mandal of the Darsi Assembly constituency on Thursday.

He met the local public and explained them about the various development activities taken up in the past three and half years. He claimed that about Rs 1,800 crore of works were done in the Darsi assembly constituency and announced that service to public was his passion.

Raghavarao said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, by introducing Swachh Bharat, and Chandrababu Naidu by introducing Swachh Andhra Pradesh, had become inspirational leaders across the country.

He participated in the rally by the students and villagers to create awareness on open defecation-free village. They raised slogans like ‘Chembu Chachindi- Atmagauravam Batikindi’ and asked the public against open defecation. He said that the ODF was a matter of self respect for women and asked them to use their own toilets to keep themselves away from diseases.
