Rajamahendravaram: The Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) initiated steps to make the city, the cultural capital of the state. As part of this, officials are taking steps keep cattle off the roads. The RMC has decided to crack a whip on cattle owners. “Many milch cattle owners have been leaving them on the roads and in the evening, they are taking them back. As a result, the people have been facing many problems with the traffic,” said an official.

There is frequent traffic interruption in the city because of the cattle and an accident is reported everyday owing to the cattle moving helter-skelter. Scores of cattle are seen to be a nuisance for buses in Gokavaram bus stop as well.

The RMC Commissioner, V Vijayarama Raju directed the officials to impose a fine on the respective cattle owners for letting their cattle loose onto the roads. He also asked them to shift the cattle to Bobbilanka near Sitanagaram, which is 25 km away from the city, and not to release them. The corporation officials would implement the directive from Tuesday.
