Kakinada: The Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member, KVP Ramachandra Rao expressed his happiness over hoisting the national flag here on Friday. “Coming to Kakinada is like coming to my own home,” he said.

He participated as the chief guest of Republic Day celebration at Kala Venkata Rao Bhavan (District Congress Office) here. He recalled that in the year 1977, he participated as a youth Congress leader in the Republic Day celebrations when Pallam Raju hoisted the flag. He expressed his strong hope that under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, Congress would gain its former glory in the district as well as in the state with the help of all its activists and followers.

He further appreciated the efforts of the Congress leaders who organised the Polavaram Maha Padayatra, which gained nationwide recognition. District Congress president Pantam Nanaji, former MLC Gidugu Rudra Raju, Pantam Indira and other Congress leaders participated in the celebrations at the party office.
