The gathering garlanded the statue of the lyricist and remembered the legendary writer.

Vijayawada: Veteran journalist Turlapati Kutumba Rao, former Mayor Jandhyala Shankar, Andhra Arts Academy president GollaNarayana and others paid rich tributes to lyricist Veturi Sundararama Murthy on his 83rd birth anniversary at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram here on Monday. The gathering garlanded the statue of the lyricist and remembered the legendary writer.

Kutumba Rao said Sundararama Murthy was born at Pedakallēpalli in Krishna district in 1936. He entered movies and was a versatile lyricist and penned 8,000 songs in about 2,000 movies. He was honoured with national award for a song in the movie ‘Matrudevobhava’ besides many awards and rewards. Kutumba Rao said, “We all should be proud of the legendry lyricist as he belonged to Krishna district.”
