He said lifestyle changes were the major cause for asthma these days.

Asthma can attack people of any age. It usually affects patients with minimum age of six months. He said patients suffering from asthma should consult the doctor time and again for the treatment. With the advanced treatment, one can protect one’s lungs from further damaging.

He said that one should have a detailed plan for taking medication for managing asthma attacks. “Asthma is an ongoing condition that needs regular monitoring and treatment. Genetic factor, genes and environment factor are the major causes for asthma. Environment factors are classified into indoor and outdoor.

Indoor allergies include dust while sweeping, cockroaches, rats, pet animals, birds, mosquito coils, smoke, indoor plants, perfumes, paints and hair dye. Outdoor allergies include air, traffic, industrial pollution, flowers and winter season are some of the outdoor pollutions,” Dr Prasad explained.

He said asthma symptoms vary from person to person. The symptoms include shortness of breath while sleeping, pain in chest and whistling sound.
