Shanta Kumar hails from West Godavari districtA Mohammed Irfan aopJeddah: A woman from Andhra Pradesh who has been repatriated from Saudi Arabia to India is missing as reported by her family members. A poor destitute Shanta Kumari, hailing from West Godavari district, was sent by Air India DammamNew Delhi flight No. AI 912 on March 27. She was to reach Hyderabad by a connecting flight AI 544 at 3:15 pm on the same day. However, her family members said she did not arrive by the Hyderabad flight. The poor folk are all the more worried as the woman is a mentally disturbed one, having lost her memory. After waiting for a day, they left for New Delhi. At the international airport there, the police showed a video footage to her husband Chittaiah and other family members. Her relative Koyya Wilson informed this correspondent over phone that Shanta Kumari was seen leaving the Airport premises towards a taxi. Then she returned after a while, and was last seen moving towards Metro. A formal missing complaint was lodged with the Delhi police. Shanta Kumari speaks only her mother tongue Telugu besides Arabic. She does not know Hindi language and neither does her husband. Shanta Kumari initially worked as a house maid in Kuwait. When her employer moved to Saudi, she was also taken along with them. However, apparently she escaped from them due to adverse conditions and landed in the streets. She was shifted to a psychiatric hospital in Dammam, where she spent nearly a year. As she lost her memory, she could not recall her details and was not in possession of any documents like passport. As usual, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, when notified of her status, did not bother to go to her rescue. Her story was carried out in The Hans India. It was left to some philanthropists and a social worker Safiya Ajit from Dammam to arrange for the same.
