Charging Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy with misleading Seemandhra people and planting “fears of T people’s witch-hunt” in their minds, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao said nobody in Telangana wants the Seemandhra community in the state capital to leave after demerger. Speaking to media persons, KCR said: “People from Seemandhra can happily stay in Hyderabad. Even the Chief Minister can set up his own curry point or tiffin centre in Hyderabad. Nobody would have any objection. “People born and brought up in Hyderabad are very much part of Telangana. I guess the Chief Minister, who claims to be a Hyderabadi does not believe so and hence making anti-Telangana comments,” he said. Contd on P8

He challenged Kiran for an open debate on the concerns he had voiced over bifurcation. “The Chief Minister has no moral right to continue in the office. He had been misleading the public and creating unnecessary tension between both the regions,” he said. He flayed the CM for “quoting wrong information on number of government employees and advocates hailing from Seemandhra region settled in Hyderabad.”

Rao stated that he had spoken with the High Court Registrar about the total number of advocates registered in the State. The number of Seemandhra lawyers here in Hyderabad is between 3,000 to 4,000 whereas the CM had claimed close to 30,000 Seemandhra lawyers were working in Hyderabad. Although GOs 36 and 610 issued by previous Chief Ministers from Seemandhra stated that around 83,000 employees from Seemandhra region had obtained posts in Telangana region flouting rules, Kiran said that the total figure was not more than 9,000.

“Let the Chief Minister come with me. We both will go to Secretariat or any HOD office in Hyderabad. The actual figure of Seemandhra employees would come out,” the TRS chief said and questioned as to where from the government employees fighting for integrationist cause descend in the state capital. To a query Rao stated that he was thousand percent confident that Congress high command would keep up its promise and complete the process of Telangana formation.

“The Chief Minister ridiculed my statement that power for Telangana region would be procured from Chhattisgarh State. owever, by doing so he made himself a laughing stock. The Chief Minster even claimed that Telangana would be in darkness after bifurcation which is entirely false,” he said.

Rao further stated that he and a retired IAS officer AK Goyal had got in touch with Chhattisgarh Power Minister and Secretaries in the electricity department in that state soon after Kiran’s press statement so as to get more details regarding the power situation. The government there expressed its willingness to provide 1000-1,500 MW of power to Telangana if it was asked for. Chhattisgarh was in close proximity to Telangana and laying a connectivity line may take just two to three months. The Chief Minister was taking about building grid connectivity between the Northern and the Southern parts of India in two to three years, which was in fact not required for procuring power from Chhattisgarh, KCR added.
