In her inaugural address to the employees of NMDC, Usha Chandrasekhar, the Chief Vigilance Officer, emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, equitability and fairness for achieving good governance.
A meet organised on the second day was presided by Chief Guest Justice N Santosh Hegde, the former Lok Ayukta of Karnataka. Justice Hegde called for good governance in all spheres of life for the better future of the country. He also suggested that if good governance starts at home, one can expect future generations to have quality life.
During the week, a workshop on “Good Governance” was organized for the officers of NMDC from all the units of NMDC by M N Rao, Director, Centre for Good Governance, Hyderabad. A number of issues were debated during the workshop.
On the concluding day, Dr Y R K Reddy, an advisor and professional speaker in corporate governance policy, mentioned that transparency was the hallmark of good governance. The valedictory function was attended by the functional directors of NMDC, S Thiagarajan, Director (Finance), S K Das, Director (Commercial) and Chief Vigilance Officer Usha Chandrasekhar and a huge gathering of officials and employees of NMDC.
