Cotton Worth 25 Lakh Gutted, Fire Accident in the Venkateswara Cotton Ginning Mill. Cotton worth Rs. 25 lakh was reduced to ashes in a fire accident in the Venkateswara Cotton Ginning Mill situated on Srisailam- Hyderabad national highway at Vanguru mandal on Tuesday. Short circuit was said to be reason behind the mishap.

The witnesses said that the sparks emanated from the cotton seed separating machine burning the cotton in the vicinity. Soon fire spread to all over the mill. Fire tenders from Achampet and Kawlakurthy rushed to the spot but to no avail. However, there were no casualties in the mishap.
Ginning mill owner Ram Reddy said that at any given time there would be at least 40 to 50 lorry loads of cotton in the mill and more than half of the stock was reduced to ashes. “The loss would be between Rs. 25 lakh and Rs. 30 lakh. He appealed to the government to compensate the loss.
