On the occasion, noted writer and former IAS officer PVRK Prasad was honoured with Sripada Subrahmanya Sastry Sahitya Puraskar for 2013. Spiritual gurus Ramadhootha and Vijnananda blessed the event .

After presenting the puraskar, Ramachandra Murthy described PVRK as a king of story-writing. He said a person endowed with devotion to god, a good heart, compassion and effective personality could deliver goods to the people. “PVRK is a prime example of these qualities,” he said, adding that Prasad, a rarity among government servants, had received much public appreciation for writing many books.

Prasad observed that his writings were the works of Lord Venkateswara. His book was based on the experiences of devotees visiting Tirumala. While describing the Godavari region as ‘Veda Bhoomi,’ he stressed the need to protect the sanctity of the river. He opined that the award had placed more responsibility on his shoulders. He thanked trust chairman BSN Kumar for recognising his efforts.
