Hyderabad: Praising women for their multitasking abilities, speakers at a seminar ‘Diversity in management- Development of women executives’ said the ability enables women to excel in managerial cadres.

Speaking at the seminar, which was held at Somajiguda on Monday, Anita Rajendra, Vice-President and Managing Director, AP Industrial Development Corporation Limited, said, “Even though as a society we had come a long way, working women executives are still facing problems with liberty as they need to obtain permission from their husbands whenever they have to travel on official tours and conferences.”

She observed that even in bureaucracy, women officials were being subjected to discrimination with respect to postings and promotions, as most of the plum posts were being grabbed by men alone.

Prof Sunaina Singh, Vice Chancellor, English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), said that it was high time the women executives re-evaluated their goals and kept reinventing themselves, which is very important in one’s life.

Appreciating the quality of ‘giving’ which women are blessed with, she felt that women needed to rethink about what they were giving out and what they were receiving in return. She said that leadership was all about adding character to intelligence, commitment and showing moral integrity. Dr K S Ratnakar, Chairman, Global Medical Education Research Foundation, said that he always showed more interest in hiring women employees because of their discipline, truthfulness and sensitivity. He observed that the multitasking ability of women, combined with the demands of family needs, puts tremendous amounts of pressure on them, which in-turn affects the balance of their lives. He urged them to create a paradise at the workplace and to have strength in character in order to be successful professionally.

Chandana Khan, Special Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Dr RK Mishra, Director, Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE) and also spoke at the seminar.
