Hyderabad: In a move to embarrass the Congress ahead of debate on draft ‘AP Re-Organidstion Bill’ in the Assembly, TDP MLAs of Seemandhra region on Saturday gave a privilege notice to Speaker Nadendla Manohar against AICC general secretary and incharge of state afairs Digvijay Singh.The MLAs led by party senior leaders P Keshav and G Muddukrishnama Naidu submitted a privilege notice to the Speaker’s office and sought action against the senior Congress leader for making statement that the BAC (Business Advisory Committee) would take a decision on tabling the Telangana Bill in its meeting on Monday.
In what capacity the AICC general secretary made such statement when he was neither a member of the State Assembly nor a representative of any party in the BAC, they questioned.
The TDP leaders also took strong exception to Digvijay’s comment that the Assembly would not seek voting on Telangana Bill instead it will only record the views being expressed by the members in the debate on the Bill. “His statements lowered the dignity and decorum of the state Assembly,” the leaders added.
Earlier, Keshav said that the Congress has no capacity to move forward in the process for the bifurcation of State in the present situation.
As it was not mandatory to hold discussion on the T Bill immediately in the ongoing Winter Session, he said some more time is required for a debate on the Bill. Keshav also criticised PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana for hosting dinner to Digvijay, who was instrumental in the bifurcation of State.
