After they received authenticated information from the sources, the prohibition and excise officials went on for a ride in Saidabad in Hyderabad. They were attacked with chilli powder by the hooch traders.
In this incident that took place on Singareni colony in Saidabad on Tuesday morning, an excise sub-inspector Ram Gopal sustained injuries.
Just after a few minutes the team arrived at the spot, a group of people including women threw chilli powder to safeguard them. Later, the excise personnel detained three women Shanti, Jyothi and Shobana for the attack, while another woman Vijay Lakshmi has been absconding.
Based on the complaint received from the injured SI, the Saidabad police station registered a case under 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC against the attackers and launched a manhunt for them.
Deputy Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise M.M.A. Faruqui said persons responsible for the incident were taken into custody.
