Warangal: The leaders in the new State of Telangana should strive to build a decent memorial in New Delhi in honour of the late premier P V Narasimha Rao, said The Hans India-HMTV editor-in-chief K Ramachandra Murthy.

Delivering the ‘Third Endowment Lecture’ on Tuesday at Kakatiya University on ‘P V Narasimha Rao’s path-breaking initiatives’ in memory of the late Prime Minister, he said that building a memorial in New Delhi in his remembrance would be a fitting tribute to the leader.

“PV had a creative mind and was an intellectual with universal vision and is Deng Xiaoping of India without a doubt,” he said.

PV’s contribution for India’s progress makes him eligible for Bharat Ratna. The initiative of residential education system in Andhra Pradesh and Navodaya Vidyalayas introduced at national level by Narasimha Rao has improved the educational standards in the country, he added.

Besides monumental achievements, PV too had some failures such as demolition of Babri Masjid, where he was inadvertently forced to take the blame for the incident, Ramachandra Murthy explained.

The lecture was jointly organised by Kakatiya University (KU) and PV Narasimha Rao Memorial Trust.

Former MLC Chukka Ramaiah, KU Vice-Chancellor Prof B Venkat Rathnam, Registrar Prof K Sayulu, PV’s daughter Vani Devi, social science dean Prof K Seetarama Rao and PV’s family members offered floral tributes to PV.
