Hyderabad: The West Zone police on Saturday raided a gambling den and took four persons into custody on charges of betting. The police seized betting chits, five cell phones besides Rs 43,400 from their possession.
The organiser, Hameed Khan, 47, a businessman from Erragadda, and three others were allegedly involved in betting and collecting money through Satta (betting) chits, an offence under the AP Gaming Act.Acting on a tip-off, the cops conducted raid under the supervision of K Ramachandran, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force at Prem Nagar in Erragadda area and arrested the accused.
The accused along with seized material were handed over to SR Nagar Police Station for necessary action and further investigation.
In a similar incident, cops conducted raid at Mohlagunj under Golconda police station limits and arrested 60-year-old Niyaz Ali Khan, the organiser of the betting den and one other person and seized Rs 9,500, two cell phones besides satta chits from their possession. The accused along with the seized material were handed over to Golconda police station for further investigation and action.
