Stripping Sridhar Babu of portfolio stirs up protests, Minister Sridhar Babu. The Congress activists also took objection for handing over the portfolio to Minister Sailajanath who is known as integrationist.
Karimnagar: The Congress leaders, led by DCC president Konduri Ravinder Rao, staged dharnas and rasta-rokos in the town on Wednesday. They also called for a bandh in the district condemning the Chief Minister’s act in shifting the portfolio of Minister D Sridhar Babu. As part of the bandh, private educational institutions closed the schools. RTC buses were not allowed to ply in the morning hours. At several places, the activists have burnt the effigy of Chief Minister.
When the supporters of Sridhar Babu asked an electronic shop owner in Karimnagar to close his shop, he resisted their move. Following this, the shop owner was severely beaten by Congress activists. The Congress activists also attacked a Bar and Restaurant and another shop in the town.
The Congress activists also took objection for handing over the portfolio to Minister Sailajanath who is known as integrationist.
The business establishments remained closed as part of the bandh in Manthani Assembly constituency in the district. Manthani is represented by Minister Sridhar Babu. Azimkhan and other leaders led the agitation.
