Hyderabad: The Assembly and the Council adjourned for the day amid pandemonium for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday without transacting any business as no end appeared to be in sight to the ongoing impasse.

Dy Speaker’s plea to floor leaders evokes no response

Though the Speaker tried to remind the members who had surrounded his podium about the decision taken at the Business Advisory Committee and appealed to them to participate in the debate on draft T Bill, the YSRCP members insisted that a resolution in support of United Andhra be taken up first. The TDP Seemandhra members said that the Bill had many flaws and did not contain vital information on many key issues. The Speaker at this stage adjourned the House for one hour.

However, when it reassembled after two hours, there was no let up in the protests from the Seemandhra members and Deputy Speaker Bhatti Vikramarka who was in chair adjourned the House for another half-an-hour.

Two hours later, when it met again, the Deputy Speaker appealed to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu and YSR party leader YS Vijayalakshmi to ask their members to resume seats. But none of them responded despite his repeated requests. With no option left, he adjourned the House for the day.

In the Council, the TDP members protested that there was not even a single minister present in the House. Deputy Chairman N Vidyasagar Rao also expressed his displeasure over it and asked chief whip Rudraraju Padmaraju about it. The Chief Whip told him that the ministers and the leader of the House were in the BAC meeting. Congress member P Sudhakar Reddy and TDP member N Rajakumari said that this amounted to insulting the House. Reddy said either the ministers should be summoned to the House at once or adjourned the Council till the BAC was over. Proceedings of the House should gain importance over all other issues including BAC, he said. Amid the din, the deputy chairman adjourned the House for one hour.
