Telugu film actor and Telugu Desam leader Nandamuri Balakrishna inaugurated the protected drinking water plant at his native village, Nimmakuru, in Krishna district on Saturday. The drinking water plant was established with the financial contribution from the NTR Trust. Balakrishna reached the village on Friday evening and stayed overnight at one of his relatives’ residence. In the morning, he visited the local Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple and worshiped the deity as part of the Vaikunthha Ekadasi. He reached the temple by walk and offered special prayers to the Lord during early hours.

Later, Balakrishna interacted with the Telugu Desam activists, local leaders and his relatives from the village and its surroundings. He told the TD leaders and the residents of the village that the NTR Trust would take up more service activities in the village in the days to come. He said that the trust had planned several activities for the overall development of the village, in memory of his late father, N T Rama Rao, who was born in this otherwise sleepy village.
