YSRCP to discuss T Bill

Hyderabad: The YSRCP is likely to participate in the debate on the draft T Bill when the discussion on the Bill would resume on January 17 after Sankranti break. It is learnt that the party has taken this decision following legal advice that it was necessary for them to take part in the discussion if they were to challenge the formation of T State in the Supreme Court.

The party and its stand has to be emphatically registered in the Legislative Assembly to make any viable challenge to the Telangana in terms of Article 3 of the Constitution and participation in a discussion on State formation initiated by the President of India, legal experts told the party leadership.

The YSRCP has been told that the Congress, TDP and TRS may target the party in the Assembly and may accuse that YSRCP was responsible for the division. The law experts further seem to have said that there was a chance that the court may ask them that their party had not availed opportunity to discuss the Bill on the floor of the House and whether the majority members had requested for a united State or not.
