Hyderabad: The Auto Driver Union Joint Action Committee (ADU-JAC) has called for an indefinite strike by three-wheelers in the twin cities from the midnight of January 17, demanding immediate fixation of auto fare structures on a par with those in neighbouring States. The Union stated that there was no question of going back unless their demand was met.

JAC leader Amanullah Khan along with other leaders said that the strike had been announced, demanding immediate scrapping of Rs 1,000 fine for traffic offences, hike in minimum auto fare and cancellation of GO No. 108.

More than 20 auto unions of the State staged a strong protest against rising prices of gas and petrol. They alleged that the government had failed in reining in the rising prices.

“We demand a fare revision, exemption from police e-challan system, exemption from eight class pass condition to obtain driving licence and establishment of welfare board for auto-drivers,” demanded Amanullah Khan.
