TRS-Congress merger rumours gather pace
Hyderabad: The sudden meeting of TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao with AICC president Sonia Gandhi on Monday evening fuelled speculations of possible merger of the two parties ahead of the General Elections.
The meeting assumes importance in the wake of President Pranab Mukherjee clearing the T Bill and the government deciding to introduce it in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Though the TRS sources here claim that KCR had called on Sonia Gandhi to thank her for being able to cross all the hurdles and succeeding in bringing the Bill closer to introduction in Parliament, and to discuss the strategy they need to adopt to ensure its passasge, political circles feel that the two leaders discussed about the possibility of a merger of TRS with Congress. It is being speculated that the TRS will agree to merge with Congress once the T Bill is passed in the Parliament.
