Hyderabad: The strike by the APNGOs, opposing the State’s bifurcation entered the fifth day, on Monday took a serious turn with the employees forcing closure of the Central offices, including those of the Income-Tax departments, banks, post offices, LIC, BSNL.

The offices were paralysed, as the agitators squatted in front of the main gates and prevented the staff from getting into the premises. The NGOs’ association leaders, addressing the protestors, demanding the Seemandhra Union ministers to stop the Centre from going ahead with the State bifurcation even now. They warned that if the ministers failed to do so, they would be branded as traitors by people. In Guntur, NGOs stormed the Central offices, blocking the entry of the staff. In Vijayawada, they forced closure of GOI offices, including banks In Palakol of West Godavari district, the Health department staff boycotted duty and staged a dharna before the government hospital. In Jammalamadugu NGOs protested in front of Post offices, LIC, BSNL and other offices. All transactions were stopped. In Kadapa the agitators went on a protest, of the three-day programme, opposing the State’s bifurcation. In Nellore NGOs organised closure of even private commercial establishments. Schools remained closed. Agitators squatted in front of BSNL office. In Vizianagaram the government staff staged dharnas before various GOI establishments forcing the employees to stay out of offices. In Tirupati NGOs laid siege to the IT department office.
