JP faces wrath of T protesters

New Delhi: Lok Satta Party leader Jayaprakash Narayan’s media interaction was cut short by the advocates of Telangana region. He was jostled around, with some of the protestors even pulling him by his tie, forcing the police to step in and escort him out. The Telangana activists were angry as he proposed a roadmap to the Centre to deliver on its commitment to create separate Telangana.

Narayan is meeting all the Union Ministers from Seemandhra region and all key leaders to suggest a roadmap that would pave the way for the smooth passage of the Telangana Bill. The Congress is committed to the creation of Telangana and so is the BJP, which is the principal Opposition party. It is for the Centre to find a way out of the tangle and find a peaceful resolution to Telangana, he said.

The Lok Satta Party leader pointed out that the loss of Hyderabad revenue is worrying the Seemandhra leaders.

The Centre should take upon itself the responsibility of compensation the region for the revenue-loss. Otherwise, the situation in the Seemandhra region would be such that it cannot pay even the salaries.

If the Centre takes it upon a war-footing, then it is easy to resolve all the issues involved in it. There has to be a special package for the backward areas in both the regions. He even referred to the demand for adding two Rayalaseema districts with Telangana, to make it Rayala Telangana.

The districts of Kurnool and Anantapur, which share a border with Karnataka and are closer to Telangana, do not have anything in common with the other two districts of Chitttoor and Kadapa, he said. As such Rayala Telangana could also be given a thought.
