Tirupati: The Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board, which met at Annamayya Bhavan on Saturday, approved its annual budget of Rs.2,401 crore. It gave clearance for increased revenue of Rs.137 crore this year and cleared last year’s budget of Rs.2,263.52 crore.

The board fixed the land rate for 1,793 TTD employees based on 2006 market rate as Rs.5.6 lakh (in S V Poor Homes) and Rs.5.9 lakh (near Dairy Farm) and resolved to build homes for 1,040 at Vinayakanagar and SGS Arts College.

This decision, in accordance with the AP High Court ruling, paves the way for the settlement of long pending problem of house-sites of the employees.

The TTD estimates a revenue of Rs.900 crore this year from the ‘Hundi’ offerings made by the devotees, Rs.655 crore from its bank deposits, Rs.190 crore through ‘darshan’, Rs.220 crore from the sale of hair.

The board decided to provide free treatment at SVIMS to poor people residing here and the adjoining areas, on the basis of white ration card. The board itself will provide health care to those whose ailments are not covered by the Arogyasri scheme.

This will come into force next month. The free treatment offer is being viewed as a poll sop in Chittoor and Kadapa districts, in the context of the general elections.

The meeting noted that there was a fall in the ‘Hundi’ revenue of Rs.26.5 crore because of the effect on buses services on account of the Seemandhra bandh.
