Hyderabad: Telangana ministers and Congress MPs who returned to Hyderabad amidst rousing reception at Shamshabad airport on Sunday exuded confidence that the party high command would not opt for President’s Rule in the State.

Minister for Information Technology Ponnala Lakshmaiah said that the Congress party has a majority in the State Assembly. Even if Telangana State comes into existence after elections, there can be a Chief Minister from any region and Telangana will have its own Chief Minister from the appointed date.

The T Ministers and leaders including Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy, Major Industries Minister J Geeta Reddy, IT minister P Laxmaiah and Civil Supplies minister D Sridhar Babu and Union Minister S Satyanarayana, MPs Gutta Sukhender Reddy, K Rajagopal Reddy, T Rajaiah, V Hanumantha Rao and Madhu Yashki Goud thanked AICC president Sonia Gandhi for making T State a reality despite facing stiff opposition.

Sukhender Reddy said that for Telangana people Congress President Sonia Gandhi was a ‘goddess.’ She realised the long-cherished dream of Telangana people by dividing the Telangana from Andhra Pradesh. Madhu Yashki said that the families of the Telangana martyrs would be provided all necessary assistances in the T state.

A festive atmosphere prevailed at the airport premises the party workers who turned up in large numbers danced to the drum beats and waving Congress flags and banners. Colour flexis were put up all along the route from airport to Gun Park where the Congress leaders paid glorious tributes to the Telangana martyrs.

Later, a massive car and bike rally was taken out by the leaders who then proceeded to the Gun Park via Zoo Park and Old City. Before taking out the rally, the T Congress leaders pledged for the victory of the party in the elections in Telangana and present majority of MP seats as a gift to Sonia Gandhi.

The T Congress Ministers after paying homage at Gun Park went in a rally to Gandhi Bhavan and held a public meeting. A large number of workers gathered and celebrated the formation of separate Telangana State by firing guns loaded with pink and yellow colours.

Addressing the gathering, Jana Reddy said it was a litmus test for the AICC president Sonia Gandhi. He said Sonia Gandhi took a tough decision even under most difficult situations.

The people of Telangana would be indebted to her for life. He said that it was now the turn of the people of Telangana to give a return gift to Sonia in the form of 17 MP and 100 MLA seats in the elections. He called upon the T Congress leaders to remain united and sort out amicably any differences that might arise.

He called upon teachers, workers and students to become part of the process of reconstruction of the new State. He also said that all Congress Bhavans will be renamed as Sonia Bhavans.
