TRS-Congress Merger Post KCR's Hyderabad Return. TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao is busy meeting all the top leaders in the UPA government. Over the last three days, he has met Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and today he met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to thank him for his support in giving a separate statehood to Telangana.

Accompanied by several senior TRS leaders, KCR submitted a memorandum to the PM requesting his support in the development of Telangana state.


It is learnt that KCR also urged the PM for early creation of Telangana.


Sources say that Manmohan Singh appealed to TRS leaders not to damage the image of Hyderabad. The PM also sought an assurance from them on the safety of Seemandhra people in Hyderabad post Telangana creation.


Speaking to the media after meeting the PM, former MP Vinod said that they had sought full support from the PM to rebuild Telangana.


KCR put forth his wish list for the development of Telangana state. The wishlist includes National Project status for Pranahita-Chevella irrigation project, Inclusion of Telangana into Special Category States, Additional power allocation of 500 MW from NTPC for at least three years out of Central pool, AIIMS branch in Telangana state, IIM in Telangana state and adequate gas allocation to Shankarpally and Nedunur Power Projects.


K. Kesava Rao is believed to have requested the PM to form two states before elections saying only then will people of Telanagna believe that Telangana state is carved out. Responding to Kesava Rao's plea, the PM assured that he will speak to the Home Minister on this, Vinod added.

TRS-Congress merger post KCR's Hyderabad return?

TRS leaders say that KCR will take a final decision on the merger only after he holds detailed discussions with the TRS leaders and all his supporters on his return to Hyderabad.


Several leaders opined that TRS should not be merged with the Congress as the party's main responsibility is to develop Telangana state.


If the merging is final, they will demand that KCR should be given a key post.
